Charlotte Engelhaart, set out in the gallery at Gulden Art gallery for the third time since opening in 2006. At this exhibition Charlotte Engelhaart was inspired by the French film director Bertrand Bonello film from 2011, the House of Pleasure, also known as House of Tolerance, where the action takes place in a French brothel from 100 years back.
Charlotte Engelhaart describes it this way: The film’s basic theme is all about unity in a world that is constantly moving toward modernization. I was charmed by the aesthetics of the film, the Baroque atmosphere, the sensual images, all the faces and the mystique. There is no typical narrative history, but one becomes spectators to an aura of seductive picturesque scenes. I wanted to convey this mood, the compositions, the black shades and sensual deep warm colors.
